THAILAND. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is aiming to attract more high-end visitors to the country and to make Thailand a year-round tourist destination.
“Thailand is enjoying tourism business only in the high season from October to April. So we’re gearing up to bring more tourists in the other months,” TAT chief Phornsiri Manoharn said.
TAT is now promoting the attractions of Thailand to business travellers, golfers, senior citizens, families and honeymooning couples, many of these from India. Through travel and tourism fairs overseas it is also launching a drive to bring in more visitors from Europe, the Middle East, East Asia and South Africa.
TAT is also working with tour operators and airlines to promote Thailand all year round, with increased frequencies reported from SAS and Martinair, among others.
TAT is also promoting the concept of ‘Amazing Thailand Holidays’ to travel agents in Australia, Europe and the CIS countries, and short break packages have been launched in neighbouring countries including Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
