PORTUGAL. Passenger numbers at the airports of the national airport operator ANA rose +0.6% in January to May 2003, reaching 6.28 million. Commercial aircraft movements at the Portuguese airports rose +3.6% in the same period.
The Madeira island airports operated by local body ANAM, which is controlled by the local Government and indirectly managed by ANA, registered a +3.7% year-on-year increase in their passenger numbers. The airports of Madeira and Porto Santo island handled a total 1.001 million passengers.
ANA airports passenger traffic rose +1.8% year-on-year in May 2003; flight movements increased by 2.0%.
ANAM-managed airports registered a year-on-year increase of +6.4% in May and a decline of -1.9% in flight movements.
