Background: The Moodie Report.com, now the travel retail industry’s leading website, celebrated its first birthday on 11 March 2004.
The website, launched on 11 March 2003, has now become an established part of the industry’s media, showing concerted month-on-month traffic growth and attracting visits from no fewer than 79 countries in February. Top markets were the UK, US, France, Spain, Canada. Switzerland, Australia , the UAE, Sweden, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Germany, Belgium, Ireland and Japan.
February was a record month for visitor traffic, showing a +24% increase in page views over the past six months. The number of individual users rose 32% in the same period.
The Moodie Report publisher Martin Moodie said: “We would like to thank the industry for supporting The Moodie Report.com so strongly. Our readership levels continue to exceed our expectations and key indicators such as page “˜stickiness’ (the number of pages viewed per individual visit) are above trade industry norms. Our regular usage levels are now well above the readership levels of the market-leading print publications.”
Moodie paid particular tribute to the brand partners who have supported the site: Estée Lauder Companies, Inniskillin, Dubai Duty Free, Aer Rianta International-Middle East (sponsor of the Arabic section), Middle East Exclusive, Pernod Ricard World Trade, Scorpio Distributors, Nestlé International Travel Retail, Kraft, Allied Domecq (new), Camus and Emirates. Two other brands, Fabris Lane and Swiss Delice are also about to join forces with The Moodie Report.com
“The vision and support of these companies has helped us to invest in and strengthen the quality and immediacy of our information,” Moodie said. “As a result we plan to add some outstanding new services in coming months.”
Colm McLoughlin, managing director of one of the site’s leading sponsors, Dubai Duty Free commented: “We congratulate the Moodie Report on its first anniversary. From the start, the online magazine set out to do things a bit differently and from Dubai Duty Free’s point of view, this is a good thing for the trade press. We like the immediacy of the format and the depth of information that is available. We wish Martin and his team our best wishes and look forward to catching up with the online news for many years to come.”
