UK. World Duty Free yesterday introduced new communications efforts to help ease passenger confusion since the 6 November EU aviation security regulations were introduced.

An A5 leaflet (pictured) is being given to EU, Norway, Switzerland and Iceland transfer shoppers as well as same day returning passengers. It says: Not to be opened until final destination is reached. Passengers transferring to another flight or returning* same day – opening or tampering with this sealed bag will result in confiscation at security check.

*Passengers not returning on same day need to check liquid/gel items over 100ml into hold baggage.

A further leaflet will be given to US and Canadian transfer passengers. It includes information featured on showcards, which will be displayed at all till points.

It reads: IMPORTANT INFORMATION

If you are flying to the US or Canada and have a connecting flight, liquid duty free purchases must be placed in your checked baggage.*

You will be required to reclaim your checked bags prior to passing through customs so that you can place liquid purchases in your bags before taking your connecting flight.

The text on the showcards, which presents information for both EU and US passengers) at the tills, reads as follows:
