FRANCE. Parfums Yves Saint Laurent is poised to unveil a number of new launches in February, across the group’s fragrance and cosmetics portfolio.
Among the novelties is the latest version of YSL’s In Love Again women’s fragrance, created in 1998 to commemorate designer Yves Saint Laurent’s forty years in the fashion business.
The 2006 version, the Edition Jasmin Étoilé, will be available in travel retail from 1 February. It is described as a sparkling, colourful bouquet that celebrates life and love.
The fragrance opens on notes of tangerine, star anise and blackcurrant, leading to a heart of star jasmine and carambola. The base is a blend of sandalwood, cedar and vanilla.
The revamped flacon evokes the bottle and heart-shaped gold cap of the original. The colour-scheme this year is pink and gold, highlighted with red, orange and yellow accents and a star motif.
In Love Again Edition Jasmin Étoilé will be available as a 100ml edt, priced in travel retail at around €45.60.
Within make-up, YSL’s Spring Look 2006 is “audacious and contrasted”. Artistic Advisor Linda Cantello was inspired by Provence and the Mediterranean to create a palette of warm, radiant colours. The result is a bohemian blend of contrasts and harmonies, according to the company.
In addition to new shades of existing products such as Touche Blush, Rouge Pure Shine and Mascara Volume Infini, the Spring Look features two new products: Poudre Compacte Éclat et Matité, and Ombres Quadrilumières (right).
The former is described as a high-definition pressed powder that is ultra-fine, ultra-mattifying, and delivers a natural, long-lasting radiance. It features light-boosting, Ampli Light+ pigments and Hydracaps micro-reservoirs, said to form a film that locks in moisture.
The powder features a “carved” YSL heart shape, and is presented in a gold-coloured compact. Available in six shades, it will be available in travel retail (along with the entire Spring Look) from 1 February, priced at €27.70.
Ombres Quadrilumières, inspired by the Mondrian collection created by YSL in 1965, is an eye shadow quad available in three different colourways. Each has different effects: matte, velvet, satin and iridescent.
“No matter which ones you use,” explained Cantello, “you are always working with an artist’s palette.” The shades can be blended together, or used as highlighters or eye liners.
The shades stay true thanks to a sophisticated compacting process that maintains the original pattern, according to YSL.
Ombres Quadrilumières will be available from February, priced in travel retail at €34.40.
New in skincare from YSL are two additions to the Lisse Expert Advanced range. These are Eye and Lip Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Care (2 x 7.5ml) and Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Serum (30ml). Both contain YSL’s Wrinkle Profiling Complex.
The former acts directly on crow’s feet and wrinkles around the lips for a maximum skin-smoothing effect. It includes radiance-boosting pigments which soften the appearance of surface imperfections; free radical scavengers; and hyaluronic acid and glycerine.
The product is presented in a double-tipped “pen” for precise application. It will be available in travel retail from 15 February, priced at €40.
The Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Serum counteracts the multiple tensile strains that are exerted on the face, according to YSL. It features a botanical renewing ingredient with a skin-smoothing retinol-effect that is said to carry no risk of irritation.
It also includes seaweed extract to combat UV rays, and the anti-free radical lycopene. It too will be launched in travel retail mid-February, and will retail at €54.40.
Lastly, the group will expand its Oscar de la Renta fragrance portfolio next month, with the introduction of Oscar Bamboo (above right).
This latest women’s scent is described as a new interpretation of nature that is “sparkling and plant-like, pure and transparent, dynamic and happy”.
The juice features natural green notes, including lime, cardamom and green tea, building around a heart of bamboo leaves and water lily, on a base of vetiver and cedar.
The flacon – and the outer carton – is coloured green and hot pink. The sculpted cap is designed to evoke a drifting lotus.
Oscar Bamboo will be available as a 60ml edt, priced in travel retail at €32.80.
