Zurich Airport commercial sales outstrip 2019 performance in first nine months

SWITZERLAND. Zurich Airport retail and dining turnover reached CHF453.5 million (US$504 million) in the first nine months of 2023, up by +22.4% year-on-year.

The growth was led by airside sales, up +29.9%, with landside sales rising by +14%. Airside spend per departing passenger reached CHF23.40 (US$26), down by -1.9% on the same period in 2022.

The nine-month figure compares favourably with pre-pandemic performance, with Zurich Airport turnover from retail and dining hitting CHF450.8 million in the first nine months of 2019.

Passenger traffic in the first nine months this year climbed by +32.5% year-on-year to 21.8 million.In September, passenger traffic grew +21.3% to 2.8 million, with commercial sales up +14% to CHF55.9 million (US$62.1 million).

Airside sales led the increase at +18.8% with landside sales rising 7.7% compared to September 2022. Airside sales per departing passenger reached CHF23.30 (US$25.90), down by -2.1%. ✈
