JTI opens first smoking lounge at Warsaw Chopin Airport

POLAND. Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has officially opened its first smoking lounge at Warsaw Chopin Airport. The 35sq m facility offers a modern and comfortable space for smokers adjacent to the Relay shop, operated by HDS Poland, in the Terminal A Departures hall.

The inauguration took place on 9 January, after the lounge was opened in December, and was attended by representatives from HDS Poland, Polish Airports and JTI.

JTI World Wide Duty Free Vice President David Francis said: “After many months of incredibly hard work, weeks of planning, designing and negotiating the JTI Smoking Lounge project has come to fruition. We are looking forward to continue working in joint cooperation with our key partner HDS Poland.”

Chopin Airport Commercial Office Deputy Director Rafal Bielecki added: “About 20% of Chopin Airport passengers are smokers. There were signs that passengers needed a place where they could smoke a cigarette before traveling. This smoking lounge responds to those needs.”

Opening hours are the same as those of the Relay shop (Monday to Sunday from 06.00 to 22.00), with some seasonal variation.
