Johnnie Walker boosts Scotch whisky’s summer appeal with travel-exclusive Blue Label Azure
Blue Label Azure was designed to extend Scotch whisky’s appeal during summer travel occasions. It is launching with Avolta at London Heathrow in May, followed by a wider travel retail roll-out.
The initiative was described as highly successful, driving more than RM200 million (US$50.59 million) in sales and more than 500,000 entries across Malaysia Airports’ network, marking +56% year-on-year growth.
The three new retail concepts include Atlanta Beltline Market, Atlanta Influences Everything and The Village Retail, each offering a strong sense of place.
Set to launch across the region on 15 May, the platform introduces a training format for frontline travel retail staff in China built around short, podcast-style audio modules.
After a run of six consecutive quarterly losses, The Shilla’s travel retail arm moves into the black for the first three months of 2026. Revenues rose +7% year-on-year (+5% quarter-on-quarter) to KWR884.6 billion (US$600.9 million) in the quarter.
The initiative follows Lotte Duty Free’s return to Incheon Airport and aims to expand its customer base through a one-stop retail and entertainment experience that leverages shared data and channels to drive visits and strengthen premium positioning.
