Plaza Premium Group unveils US$20 million Australian lounge investment

AUSTRALIA. Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has announced a US$20 million investment programme to expand its Australian domestic lounge network and upgrade existing facilities as it marks ten years in the market.

The programme includes a new lounge in Sydney Airport Terminal 2, a complete rebuild of its Brisbane international lounge and a domestic lounge at Cairns Airport.

The 113-seat, 545sq m Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney Domestic is scheduled to open in early December, becoming the airport’s first independent pay-per-use lounge in its domestic precinct.

Access will be available to departing T2 passengers regardless of airline, ticket class or frequent flyer status, with prices starting at A$54 (US$37.68).

The opening will coincide with completion of Sydney Airport’s A$200 million (US$139.5 million) T2 redevelopment.

The lounge will offer quiet workspaces, high-speed connectivity, locally inspired food & beverage, barista coffee and a full-service bar.

Passengers can book in advance or pay for walk-in access.

Sydney Airport Group Executive Commercial Mark Zaouk commented, “The arrival of Plaza Premium Lounge marks another exciting milestone in the transformation of T2, introducing our first independent, non-airline lounge in the domestic terminals, open to all passengers regardless of airline or ticket class.

“It’s giving passengers more choice in how they experience the airport and forms part of our broader transformation of the domestic precinct, with new retail, dining and passenger experiences creating a more contemporary T2.”

PPG is also rebuilding and redesigning its international lounge at Brisbane Airport where it entered Australia in 2016 with the country’s first independent international airport lounge.

The redevelopment comes as Brisbane Airport prepares for growth ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The airport expects annual passenger traffic to rise from around 25 million to almost 35 million by 2032 and is investing more than A$5 billion (US$3.5 billion) in infrastructure and passenger facilities.

The Cairns domestic lounge is planned for early 2027, following the opening of PPG’s Adelaide domestic lounge in November 2025.

Further Australian developments are scheduled for mid-to-late 2027.

Plaza Premium Group Chief Transformation Officer Mei Mei Song said, “A decade ago, we introduced our independent lounge concept to Australia in Brisbane with a vision to bring premium airport hospitality to every journey.

“Ten years in Australia, ten lounges and ten consecutive years of Skytrax airport lounge awards – these are milestones we are incredibly proud of.

“Australia has become one of our most vital growth markets globally, and this US$20 million investment reaffirms our long-term commitment to the region as we continue to redefine the travel experience across major Asia Pacific transit hubs.”

PPG operates airport hospitality facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Plaza Premium Group General Manager, Oceania Cyrus Wong commented, “A decade after entering Australia, we are proud to launch our biggest domestic project yet.

“Whether it is a business traveller needing a quiet hour to work, a family heading on holiday, or anyone wanting a comfortable space to relax, we are making a premium airport experience a normal, easy part of domestic travel.” ✈
