HONG KONG. The first Swatch corporate shop to be launched in the Asia Pacific travel retail market will open in late 2003 at Hong Kong International Airport.
The opening represents a new era for Swatch, featuring its new visual retail concept, Jellyfish. It will be sited in the East Hall of Hong Kong SkyMart.
This new retail concept, exclusively in association with Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), will offer customers a new visual experience through its contemporary and minimalist design. Mirrored ceilings and frosted suspended steel frames maximises the range of Swatch watches on display.
Swatch Bijoux, the company’s jewellery collection, will be presented with an equally dramatic effect, set inside free standing cabinet and wall mounting.
Swatch Group head of travel retail international Frank Furlan commented: “We are very pleased to be working with AAHK on this innovative project, our first in the Asia Pacific region. Their open and forward approach towards travel retail is a perfect complement to our global retail development strategy. Collectively we have made significant efforts to bring a retail environment to the consumer that is visual, unique and exciting.”
AAHK general manager, retail and advertising unit Eva Tsang commented: “The Authority welcomes Swatch into the newly-expanded East Hall at Hong Kong SkyMart. With no doubt, the Jellyfish retail concept will create passenger excitement and further enhance the shopping ambience at the airport. The completion of the East Hall will offer an additional 6,800 sq m of spacious shopping and dining areas, in which, for the first time ever the Swatch concept shop will be located.”
