Passenger traffic rises at India’s airports

INDIA. Passenger traffic at India’s airports increased by +14.3% in January year-on-year, according to the Airports Authority of India.

The top five airports of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai accounted for 67% of all passenger traffic.

Between April 2003 and January 2004 the passenger traffic at India’s airports increased by +9.7%.

The Airports Authority of India is going through a process of airport privatisation as the whole aviation sector is overhauled. This is expected to result in strong growth in passenger traffic.
