Kenyan airport expansion plan calls for direct flights to US – 16/03/05

KENYA. Kenya Airports Authority is expanding Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in readiness to launch direct flights to the US.

Space has been earmarked for the construction of a building to cater for international flights alone, Managing Director George Muhoho said this week.

Canadian firm Queens Quay International, jointly with four local consultancy companies, have been awarded tenders to carry out a feasibility study.

Muhoho said Queens Quay had presented a draft report. A final report detailing the project designs and total cost was expected in the next four months before work starts in October.
