MALAYSIA. Sales of Masterfoods-owned M&M chocolate have scaled record heights at the Chocolate Sales & Supplies confectionery store at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang.
The retailer’s Group Marketing Manager Aisyah Shereen Lau told The Moodie Report that a major joint promotion at the Choc Stop outlet is delivering spectacular results.
“During the first two months of the promotion (February and March 2005), we registered an increase of over +40% in sales for this brand, over the same period last year,” she said. “M&M is currently one of the top five brands in the duty free category for Choc Stop’s shops which span from KLIA to Langkawi, Labuan and Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia.
At KLIA visitors are being handed M&M samples and Celebration chocolates near a grand M&M display at the Choc Stop International entrance. The promotion runs until the end of June.
During the four-month promotion every visitor to the store gets the chance to sample Masterfoods’ brands and is incentivised to buy through a ‘Buy three, get one free’ package.
Lau continued: “Aside from great offers of the wide range of interesting Masterfoods chocolates, shoppers who purchase over US$25 worth of M&M products get a chance to get exclusive M&M Lamps, Tape Cutters, Backpacks and Character Dolls free.”
