INTERNATIONAL. Global international passenger traffic continued to increase in August, spurred by the African and the Middle Eastern regions.
According to Airports Council International (ACI), international passenger traffic rose +4.6% year-on-year in August.

Total passenger traffic rose +4.0% and domestic passengers +2.9%.
In August, Africa posted a rise of +9.9% year-on-year in international passenger traffic, followed by the Middle East at +9.8%. North America posted the lowest growth at +3.7%.
For the first eight months of 2005, Latin America led the increase in international passenger traffic with a growth of +12.4% year-on-year. Europe lagged behind all other regions in that period, with international traffic growth nudging to +5.8%.
For the 12 months ending in August 2005, total passengers worldwide (domestic and international) recorded a +6.5% increase over the previous 12 months ending August 2004. International passenger traffic grew by +7.7%. Again, the Middle East posted the biggest international increase in that period, up by +12.1% compared with the same period in the previous year.
