US. Sales and marketing specialist Aero-Cos International is targeting travel retailers with its huge range of Apple iPod accessories.
“The iPod accessories market is worth over US$1 billion,” Aero-Cos International President and CEO Nate Barbanel told The Moodie Report at the IAADFS show, where a selection of skus from the 100-strong DigiCom range was displayed.
“The iPod is a phenomenon with an 85% share of the worldwide market for digital music players. Apple shipped 14 million units last year and expects to ship around 44 million in the next few years.”
Barbanel added that the products offer a good margin of around 50-60% to travel retailers.
The audio accessories are manufactured by US firm DigiCom Digital Necessities and come with a five-year warranty. The wide assortment includes mini 100 watt speakers, headsets, three-in-one chargers and overlays in many different colours.
“Many of the products come in fashionable colours and we had great success showing them at the MAGIC fashion trade fair recently,” said Barbanel.
Listings include airlines such as United, Varig and USAir, as well as ground shop operator Brasif. United is carrying two items from the DigiCom range: the mini speakers and noise-cancelling earphones.
Discussions are under way with Canadian border shop operators, Asian retailers and other inflight programmes, said Barbanel.
