Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport calls retail and food & beverage RFP – 12/04/07

US. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is seeking proposals from retail and food & beverage operators to operate locations in Terminals A, B, C, D, and E*.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) consists of two food and beverage packages and five retail packages.

Completed proposals are due no later than Wednesday, 30 May at 3:00 PM, Central Standard Time.

They should be sent to:

A pre-proposal conference has been changed to Monday, 30 April from 2p.m. – 5 p.m. The final date for questions and clarification is Tuesday, 15 May, 2007.

Packages available include a range of food & beverage opportunities, plus general retail, women’s fashion and other speciality retail.

Proposal Evaluation Criteria

The proposal evaluation criteria are as follows:

– Proposer Experience and Financial Information – 30%
– Concept, Management and Staffing – 25%
– Rental Income to the Airport – 15%
– ACD/M/WBE Participation – 20%
– Local Business Enterprise – 10%

The following facts provide a brief overview of DFW Airport and its passengers:

– Purpose of trip: 60% business; 40% leisure
– Approximately 30% of passenger use DFW as their origin, 70% of passengers connect through DFW from other locations.
– 60 million people travel through DFW annually, which equates to more than 164,000 daily passengers.
– Concessions sales in 2006 exceeded US$205 million.
– Approximately twice the number of passengers travel through DFW annually as compared to tourists visiting Times Square in New York.
– Passenger dwell time (waiting period prior to boarding a flight) on average is about 90 minutes
– One out of ten connecting passengers in the US connects at DFW Airport

‘Street Level Pricing’ required

DFW’s Street Level Pricing requires merchandise sold at the airport to be priced within 10% of the operator’s other locations or to similar outlets in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Pricing at duty free locations is required to be at least -15% below street level pricing and competitive with duty free shops at other airports in the US.

Each proposer must have achieved the minimum average sales per square foot required for the package being proposed on during the three years of continuous operation in at least one operation.
