GERMANY. Luxury German leathergoods company MCM will focus on its Autumn/Winter 2007 collection at this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition (Stand number: K2).
The eight-strong line includes new additions to the popular heraldic Munich Lion Series, such as a black Boston bag, shopper and zipped wallet.
The theme is the use of deep, rich autumn/winter colours – browns, blacks, gold, grey and purple – often in combination.
Highlighted lines for travel retail are the reborn Woven Jacquard, Color Block and Patent Edition.
MCM Woven Jacquard. MCM has rejuvenated its woven Jacquard line with a new Diamond version using sensual-feel material and bold colours. Made from 100% polyester with washed leather trim, colourways are White/Black and Brown/Black. The line includes Boston bags in medium and large sizes, shoppers, shoulder and weekend bags plus matching accessories. Travel retail price range is €89-455.

A weaved tubular handmade handle and MCM brass plate are designed to add a distinctive touch. Colourways are black/silver and brown/gold and the line includes a wide range of Boston medium and large bags, shoppers and weekend bags with accessories to match. Travel retail price range is €145-689.
MCM Patent Edition. Made from fashionable high quality patent leather, one of the hot trends for the coming season, Patent Edition offers a selection of totes, drawstrings, shoppers and accessories that are described as both ultra-trendy and practical. Colours are black, silver grey, purple and gold, with metallic buckle ornaments and contrasting stitching. Travel retail price range is €98-825.
Additionally, new additions join the Plain Leather, Visetos Glamour and Visetos Marble lines, as well as a soft and luxurious Velvet Champagne line.
“What sets MCM aside from other luxury leathergoods brands in travel retail are our unique designs and use of colour, that are thoroughly modern and contemporary without compromising on quality or luxury,” said MCM Global Travel Retail Director Gerry Munday. “In addition, our focus is very much on the needs of the traveller. Style is important, but so is practicality and functionality. We don’t want to be a me-too brand in travel retail; MCM intends to stand out and say “˜we’re unique, we’re different’.”
