TV chef restaurant to debut at San Diego Airport -13/09/07

Yan Can Cook: San Diego Airport will be television chef Martin Yan’s first airport restaurant

US. HMSHost Corp is to open four new restaurants at San Diego International Airport within the next year.

Celebrated chef Martin Yan, who specialises in Asian cuisine, will open the first airport location of his California restaurant Yan Can Cook.

The other three dining destinations – Brioche Dorée Café & Bakery, Chili’s Too! and Quiznos – will follow.

On the partnership with HMSHost, President/CEO of San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Thella F. Bowens said: “We are pleased that HMSHost is working with us to create a world-class visitor experience at San Diego International Airport.

“We focus on the needs of our passengers, and strive to provide them with excellent service,” she added. “The improved concessions will help make air travel for our passengers more memorable for all the right reasons – quality, speed, and efficiency.”

Echoing Bowens’ focus on passengers, HMSHost Senior Vice President Business Development Steve Johnson commented: “We feel it is important that the food and beverage choices at San Diego International Airport reflect passengers’ favorite brands and provide the excellent service that travellers have come to expect.”

HMSHost developed San Diego’s expanding airport dining programme based on consumer preferences, tastes and purchasing habits. In working with Yan, HMSHost negotiated the concession agreements and worked with Yan to adapt his menu to suit the airport clientele.
