US. As it prepares to show its brand to travel retailers at the TFWA World Exhibition, Maui Jim Sunglasses has said it is making strong headway at the holiday airports of Europe and the Middle East (Stand number: Green Village K39).
“The feedback has been excellent,” enthused Duty Free Manager Europe & Middle East Martine Larroque, as she took a short break from her travels.
“In addition to new listings all over the region, Maui Jim is expanding its allocated space in several duty free shops due to the great response.”
Since January 2007, Maui Jim has entered travel retail outlets in Cyprus, Amsterdam Schiphol, Dublin, the new Paris Charles de Gaulle S3 Terminal, and UK duty free stores including Luton, Stansted, Gatwick and Manchester.
Maui Jim is also featured on Harding Brothers cruiselines and by the end of November will be present in Moscow Vnukovo, Moscow Domodedovo and Kiev.
Similar success in the Middle East has produced listings in Egyptian resorts Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada, Dubai Duty Free, Bahrain Duty Free and by the end of this month in Qatar Duty Free.
The Maui Jim product range boasts hi-tech features such as ultra-light lenses, hingeless frames and PolarisedPlus2 lens technology.
Four new styles on show at TFWA have adjustable bridges and nosepads for added comfort, targeted at customers with wider faces.
The new styles are classic aviator Akoni with metal frame and patented SuperThin glass and the universal bridge Hibiscus, both available in three lens colours: rose, grey and bronze. There are also the Nunui and the Maka in the latest shield style with a single wraparound lens in grey or bronze.
Brand new to travel retail this Autumn are the Maui Readers, off-the-shelf bi-focal reading glasses in two contemporary styles, the Makaha and the Ho’okipa, with lightweight gloss black or tortoise coloured polycarbonate frames and grey or bronze lenses.
