SINGAPORE. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has launched a complimentary shopping concierge service at Changi Airport from 15 November 2007 to 5 January 2008 to help passengers with their last minute Christmas shopping between flights.
This service was introduced in conjunction with Changi Airport’s Christmas celebrations, which were officially launched by CAAS Director-General & Chief Executive Officer Lim Kim Choon today.
“This is part of CAAS’s efforts to enhance passengers’ shopping experience at Changi Airport,” said Lim.
“We hope that passengers will find shopping a breeze at Changi Airport Shopping City, given the extra help from our new shopping concierge staff, and take full advantage of the great buys being offered during this Christmas shopping promotion period.”
Located within the Transit Malls of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, the shopping concierge counters will be opened from 6am to 12 midnight (or 1am in T2).
Staff stationed at these counters will provide passengers with ideas and recommendations on the perfect gifts to buy for their loved ones. They will also advise passengers on the best buys at Changi Airport.
Each counter will have up to three staff on hand to attend to passengers’ queries. There will be a total of 25 shopping concierge staff rotated on shifts.
Free gift wrapping services, Christmas carols and handbell performances will also be featured from 12 to 25 December.
In addition, shoppers who spend S$60 (US$41) on Visa credit cards or S$120 (US$83) by other means at any outlet in Changi’s Transit Malls will be eligible for instant lucky treats and a chance to win the “˜Travel Round the World Trip for 2′ draw worth S$20,000 (US$13,800).
CAAS has also put together great buys for shoppers for this festive season. A pair of mother-of-pearl with diamond earrings is retailing at S$398 (US$275) instead of its usual price of S$1,038 (US$716). Also, the newly launched Absolut Disco vodka, which is exclusive to Changi Airport (DFS Group) among Asia Pacific airports until 31 December, will be available at S$30 (US$21) a bottle.
