BELGIUM. Food manufacturer Campbell Soup Co has agreed to sell its Godiva Chocolatier business to Yildiz Holding for US$850 million. The luxury Belgian chocolate house has annual sales of about US$500 million.
The US foods company, which was exploring strategic options for Godiva in August, expects the sale to close within the next few months.
Campbell put Godiva up for sale in September to focus on its soup and snack businesses.
Yildiz Holding is the owner of powerful Turkish food company Ulker Group. Campbell said that after the deal closes, Godiva will become part of Ulker Group.
