RUSSIA. Gebr Heinemann has acquired 50% of the shares of newly formed local company Duty Free Partners and will open about 5,000sq m of duty free retail space at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.

With significant space won as the result of recent tenders, Duty Free Partners is set to become an important new force in the burgeoning Russian travel retail market.

Retail space located in Sheremetyevo Terminal 2 will open during the last quarter of 2009. And shops located in Sheremetyevo Terminal E (a new international terminal between T2 and T3) are scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2010.

Gebr Heinemann Area Director Russia and the CIS Pierre Viarnaud told The Moodie Report: “Despite the drop in passengers all airports are experiencing this year in Moscow, we expect that passenger traffic will resume its growth in the near future and are committed to a long-term presence at Sheremetyevo Airport.”
