The Neuhaus Sommelier Collection was featured in a major promotion at Brussels Airport in October |
BELGIUM. Belgian chocolatier Neuhaus introduced at TFWA World Exhibition its new gourmet chocolate products, such as the Sommelier Collection, Le Carré and the Discovery Collection.
Launched in key airports from 15 September, the Sommelier Collection was featured in a major promotion at Brussels Airport in October using a variety of promotional tools, including a theatre area, a super-podium in the retail section and chocolate and wine tastings.
The Sommelier Collection contains 16 pralines which can be enjoyed with wine. The selection offers a choice of traditional recipes such as Sapho, alongside new creations like Suzanne and Galerie and typically Belgian tastes including the 1857 with speculoos (a cinnamon cookie). The box contains a detailed wine brochure.
Neuhaus also aims to increase sales by cross-merchandising items from both the chocolate and wine sections, as well as gourmet corners.
The Sommelier Collection was created with expert guidance from Maxim de Muynck, who was named Sommelier of the Year 2009 by restaurant guide Gault Millau.
De Muynck has chosen wines from all regions and price points to feature on a list providing consumers with guidance on the perfect wine to accompany their Neuhaus chocolate. The sommelier has also included drinks such as beer and sake to his selection.

In the new Le Carré range, Neuhaus pays homage to the tradition that gives Neapolitan chocolates their name.
In the Italian city of Naples, luxury coffee houses used to serve a thin chocolate square with the coffee, called Neapolitans or carrés (the French word for square).
The Neuhaus Le Carré range of 15 carrés are aimed at connoisseurs:
Le Carré Classic: Dark and milk versions are available, the latter with a hint of vanilla.
Le Carré Origin: Rich and varied flavours from the most exclusive cacao beans from all over the world: Ecuador, Sao Tome, Tanzania and Papua New Guinea.
Le Carré Crunchy: The thin milk chocolates contain crunchy bits of Speculoos (cinnamon cookie), caramel, feuilletine (crunchy wafer from Brittany) and brésilienne (roasted and caramelised hazelnuts).
Le Carré 10 Flavours: This box offers a wide range of flavours, including: dark chocolate with Earl Grey tea, milk chocolate with caramel, dark chocolate 72%, dark chocolate with raspberries, and dark chocolate with lime.

Neuhaus Discovery Collection
The Discovery Collection comprises seven subtly flavoured pralines with refined shapes that have been named after the important men, women and locations in the history of Neuhaus.
The elegant silver gift box contains 21 chocolates, as follows:
Jean: Jean Neuhaus Jr invented the praline in 1912. The chocolate named after him is a ganache with intense dark chocolate from Peru (64%).
Grand Place: Names after the square in central Brussels, near the first Neuhaus shop, the Grand Place praline is a dark chocolate ganache with a hint of Nigella (black cumin).
Galerie: Galerie de la Reine was the site of the first Neuhaus shop. This caramel praline has an aroma of fresh caramel traditionally prepared in copper pots.
Frédéric: Frédéric, named after the founder’s son, is a creamy ganache with freshly toasted nuts.
Suzanne: Suzanne, daughter of Louise and Jean Neuhaus, and a renowned opera singer, helped develop the Manon pralines. This chocolate consists of a praline filling and raspberry ganache.
Louise: Louise Agostini, wife of Jean Neuhaus, created the ballotin chocolate box. The Louise pure ganache is made with milk chocolate from Java.
Adelson: Adelson De Gavre married Suzanne Neuhaus and created the recipes for the famous Caprice and Tentation pralines. This traditional praline is described as an authentic mix of hazelnuts, almonds and sugar.
