QATAR. Qatar Airways has presented the winner of its latest inflight duty free raffle draw with a cheque for US$30,000. And the winner, Filipino national Mely Caunca, who lives in London, said she would donate the money to help build a chapel in a typhoon-hit area of the Philippines.

Ms Caunca won the prize after entering the draw on board a Qatar Airways flight to Manila. Passengers were given the chance to enter an inflight duty free raffle upon purchase of two or more perfumes.

After collecting her prize at the Business Travel & Meetings Show in London, at which Qatar Airways was an exhibitor, she said: “I am so delighted to have won this prize and I would like to use the money to help families who suffered when the typhoon hit my home country of the Philippines last year.”

She added: “Many of my own relatives and friends were killed by this tragedy, so I would like to help my local community back home. My family and I had been building a chapel in my home town, but had to put it on hold because we had run out of money, so I am thrilled that we can now use this money to finish the project.”

Qatar Airways’ Vice President Commercial Europe Paul Johannes said: “I offer my personal congratulations to Mely. It is great news that she will be able to use the money towards such a good cause and will be able to finish a project that will help an entire community.”

In the current issue of Qatar Airways’ Inflight Duty Free magazine, passengers will receive a US$40 shopping voucher if they spend more than US$200 in a single transaction onboard.

In addition, members of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club loyalty programme can earn two Qmiles for every US$1 spent onboard.

Qatar Airways’ inflight duty free offers a wide selection of brands and product categories with an extensive collection of fragrances, cosmetics, watches, jewellery and other goods. Qatar Airways now offers passengers the chance to reserve their duty free purchases by pre-ordering at least 72 hours prior to their flight.
