Scorpio inks Elonex electronics deal in run-up to Cannes fair

The Elonex 7in colour eBook has many multimedia functions

UK. Scorpio Distributors has unveiled details of its newly signed inflight distribution agreement with the Elonex electronics brand and announced fresh additions to its product range. All the electronics items mentioned below can be seen for the first time this year at the TFWA World Exhibition in September (Stand number: Mediterranean Village P8).

Scorpio has recently taken on exclusive inflight distribution for Elonex, which offers a range of value, on-trend e-products, including an ebook, a media tablet and a portable WiFi hotspot device.

Said Scorpio Group Sales & Marketing Director Richard Kennedy: “We are always looking for innovative and original products to distribute. We are very lucky to have made this agreement with Elonex, whose products boast originality, quality and great value for money – they are ideal for the travellers and we are expecting a fantastic response from buyers in Cannes this year.”

Elonex range includes airline-exclusive ebook

Visitors to TFWA World Exhibition will also be able to see the 7in colour eBook, which supports PDF, ePub, HTML and TXT files. Multimedia functions include music, radio, videos, photos, calculator, voice recorder, dictionary and calendar.

The eBook has 4GB solid state internal storage, meaning that the device can hold a huge amount of data. It is preloaded with 500 books in five languages – an airline-exclusive product – and has a Micro SD card slot meaning that users can store up to 32GB of data (Micro SD card is not included).

Battery life ranges from eight hours for the ebook, 30 hours for audio and five hours for video. The eBook comes with stereo earphones and is available in white or black. Travel retail price is €139.

The eTouch media tablet can be used to surf the web, email, download apps, music and movies. The tablet is lightweight and portable (weight about 390g) and has a 7in colour-resistive touchscreen. The eTouch boasts wireless internet, Li-ion rechargeable battery with about 3.5 hours of battery life and runs on the Google Android operating system.

Plenty of data can be stored on the device thanks to the 2GB solid state internal storage, and the Micro SD card slot means users can store up to 32GB of data (Micro SD card is not included). The eTouch comes with stereo earphones and is available in black. Travel retail price is €149.

Also from Elonex is the eConnect portable Wi-Fi hotspot, which allows users to create a Wi-Fi hotspot with either a USB dongle or via a category five cable (USB 3G dongle is not included).

The eConnect is said to be ideal for hotels or cafes as many only supply a category five connecting cable. The device allows the user to connect up to 32 multiple wireless devices to the internet such as phones, web tablets, laptops, PCs and other wireless devices.

The eConnect is plug-and-play out of the box, creating an open wireless network without password protection. The device has built-in rechargeable battery which lasts for about three hours. Travel retail price is €109.
