The new concept focuses on Spanish gourmet products with Designation of Origin or other awards |
SPAIN. World Duty Free Group has opened two delicatessen shops in Madrid Barajas airport Terminal 4 under a new brand, The Food Society. The stores cover 53sq m and 147sq m and offer more than 200 Spanish gourmet products that have been awarded Designation of Origin (D.O.) or recognition through other awards.
The Food Society environment, designed by Labstore, evokes tradition and heritage within a contemporary setting through its use of “˜noble’ materials, the company said. The stores will serve the 25 million annual passengers – mainly Spanish, French and German – at Barajas T4.
Products include Catí cheese, winner of the Best Spanish Goat Cheese 2011, and Marques de Valdueza olive oil, winner of the Best Spanish Olive Oil – Speciality Fruity. In addition, customers can enjoy Joselito Spanish ham sliced by an expert ham slicer – making Madrid Barajas the first airport to offer such a service.
A wide and well known variety of cheese is also available in the new delicatessen, including Rosemary cheese, D.O. certified Tetilla cheese and D.O. certified Manchego cheese.
“Traditional cuisine and culinary heritage evoke the flavours of our country,” the company said. “The products’ features will become an inseparable part of the identity of Aldeasa/World Duty Free Group shops.”
