Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic posted a record high for September |
GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport handled 5.5 million passengers in September 2013, a new record for the month at Germany’s largest gateway (+3.6% year-on-year).
Aircraft movements rose during the reporting month by +0.7% to 42,525 takeoffs and landings.
In the first nine months of 2013, Frankfurt served a total of 44.2 million passengers, a rise of +0.2% year-on-year. Aircraft movements declined by -2.5% to 357,538 takeoffs and landings.
Fraport’s majority-owned airports registered strong growth in September 2013 as well as significant increases during the first nine months of the year.
In the nine months Lima Airport in Peru received more than 11 million passengers compared to the same period last year, a gain of +12.2% year-on-year. Antalya Airport on the Turkish Riviera welcomed a total of 22.1 million passengers from January to September 2013, up +6.6%. In Bulgaria, Burgas Airport had about more than 2.4 million passengers (up +4.6%), while Varna Airport registered about 1.2 million passengers (up +7.3%) in the year to date. For the January-to-September 2013 period, the five majority-owned Group airports served a total of about 81 million passengers – a rise of +3.6% year-on-year.
