Luxury goods brand Bally names Pablo Coppola as Design Director

Bally has named Pablo Coppola as its new Design Director, working across the Swiss luxury label’s women’s and men’s bags, shoes, small leather goods, ready-to-wear and eyewear collections.

With over a decade of experience in luxury accessories and fashion design, Coppola joined the company in 2013 and began his new role in February. Based in London, he oversees a team of 15 designers.

Coppola’s previous experience includes working on the Christian Dior accessories team as senior designer as well as being chosen by Tom Ford to head the design for the label’s women’s and men’s accessory collections, including eyewear. He has also worked for other European fashion houses including Celine, Burberry and Alexander McQueen.

Coppola said: “Bally has such incredible and unique potential, my approach is to take the rich past of this brand and make it relevant for today. Our design team is working closely with a vision shared by Frédéric de Narp; we are already pushing Bally forward and letting the product speak for itself. We are creating a softer style of luxury where products are crafted for real people.”

Together with Bally CEO Frédéric de Narp, who joined the company in November 2013, Coppola has outlined a new design direction for the brand, which includes a renewed focus on craftsmanship and innovation.

Commenting on Coppola’s appointment, De Narp said: “Pablo has the capacity to inspire and bring creativity both to men’s and women’s collections – and that is a very rare quality. Pablo and I are also very aligned in feeling the same intuition and excitement for the brand’s untapped potential. He gets the brand’s DNA and has a design background of pure luxury that subtly filtrates through his work in a very sophisticated way. He is integral in helping us take Bally to the next level.”

Frédéric de Narp brings to Bally over 23 years of international luxury retail experience. He most recently led the successful turnaround of American jeweller and watchmaker Harry Winston Inc, nearly doubling its sales over three years and returning the brand to profitability.

Bally has also named Tommaso Beretta as Travel Retail Sales Specialist. He joined Bally in April 2012 as Business Support Controller for travel retail, OSEA, Japan and North America regions.

He replaces Emanuele Mazziota, who worked with the travel retail team for the past three years. Mazziota will stay at Bally until May during a transition period.
