The Estée Lauder Companies makes key appointments to executive team

USA. The Estée Lauder Companies has today announced the appointment of John Demsey and Jane Hertzmark Hudis to its executive team, effective 1 January 2016.

John Demsey, who becomes Executive Group President, will add Clinique and the Men’s Skincare Group to his responsibilities while continuing to oversee Aramis and Designer Fragrances, Prescriptives, MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone London, Bumble and bumble, Tom Ford, Smashbox, RODIN olio lusso, Le Labo, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle and GLAMGLOW. In his role Demsey will also lead a newly created Center of Excellence for Creative, which aims to continue to advance capabilities, processes and talent development.

Demsey, who served as Group President at The Estée Lauder Companies from July 2006, joined the company in 1991. During his time as President of MAC he grew the brand’s distribution to more than 100 countries worldwide. Demsey has also overseen the expansion of many brands in the group’s portfolio, including Tom Ford, Jo Malone London and Smashbox.

Promotions for John Demsey and Jane Hertzmark Hudis

Jane Hertzmark Hudis has been promoted to the position of Group President and will continue to lead the company’s Estée Lauder and AERIN brands, as well as La Mer, Darphin, Origins and Aveda. Since Hudis’ appointment as Global Brand President in July 2009, the brand’s net sales have grown more than +40%. Hudis previously served as President of the Origins brand as well as BeautyBank, a division she founded in 2003 to develop innovative new brand concepts for The Estée Lauder Companies. Her extensive knowledge of Asian consumers has helped drive Estée Lauder to be the number one prestige brand in its distribution in Asia.

Both Demsey and Hertzmark Hudis will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Fabrizio Freda and will work closely with Group President Lynne Greene until her retirement on 30 June 2016.
