ASIA PACIFIC. The Federation of Asia Pacific Retailers Associations (FAPRA) has appointed Duty Free Philippines COO Lorenzo Formoso as Chairman.

He is concurrently serving as President of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA).

Formoso has taken over the role of FAPRA Chairman from Turkish Council of Shopping Centers and Retailers Chairman Mehmet Nane. The formal handover ceremonies were performed at the Asia Pacific Retailers Convention and Exhibition 2015 that took place in Manila in October.

As FAPRA chairman, Formoso will preside over the federation’s policies and programmes aimed at helping promote the growth and development of retailing in the Asia Pacific region. He will stay in the role until 2017.

A statement from the PRA board read: “As a veteran in the retail industry and being the concurrent president of PRA, we are confident Formoso’s chairmanship of FAPRA will be very productive. We are sure he will guide the FAPRA in the same way he ably shepherded the PRA.”

FAPRA consists of the recognised national retail trade organisations in 18 member economies: Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.
