More top travel retail executives join powerful Trinity Forum line-up in Mumbai

INDIA. More top names from the global airport and travel retail sectors have joined a powerful speakers’ line-up for The Trinity Forum 2016 in Mumbai.

The Trinity Forum, the world’s leading airport commercial revenues conference, is a tri-partite alliance between The Moodie Davitt Report, Airports Council International (ACI) and ACI Asia-Pacific. This year’s event runs from 12 to 14 September.

This year’s theme is ‘Adding value to the consumer journey in an omni-channel age’.

Additions to the programme include Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Jain, one of India’s most respected and experienced aviation sector professionals (for full programme scroll down).

Dubai Duty Free’s newly appointed Chief Operating Officer (and new number two in the organisation behind Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin) Ramesh Cidambi will make a highly anticipated presentation, his first since assuming the role.

Baptiste Beau, Strategic Business Development Director at L’Oréal Travel Retail Europe, Middle East, Africa and India (and a former Apple executive) and Stephan Uhrenbacher, CEO of successful airport app FLIO – Air Media Service will join Cidambi in examining travel retail’s role in an omni-channel world.

A strong Trinity panel will examine the challenges and opportunities of social and digital media and e-commerce, with Dubai Airports Executive Vice President, Commercial & Communications Eugene Barry being joined by Swarovski Regional Sales Director Travel Retail Dmitry Schipakov and Fraport Executive Vice President Multi-Channel Kai Schmidhuber.

The culminating session, dubbed ‘Trinity Panel – Telling it Straight’, promises to be a stand-out. It will feature four perspectives (airport, concessionaire, brand and, crucially, consumer) with Abu Dhabi Airports Chief Commercial Officer Dan Cappell (one of the key influences in the Trinity debate of recent years) representing airports and Conde Nast Traveller India Editor Divia Thani adopting a challenging consumer perspective. The other two presenters will be named soon.

A stellar line-up: (Top row) Sanjay Reddy, Rajeev Jain, Julián Díaz and Paul Griffiths; (Middle row) Doug Bagley, Dan Cappell, Glyn Williams, Kim Gray; (third row) Sanjay Khanna, Angela Gittens, Divia Thani, Antoine Rostworowski; (fourth row) Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, Beau Baptiste, Eugene Barry, Kai Schmidhuber

Respected industry film-maker Peter Marshall is presenting two short films showing recent examples of best practice, all closely related to the Forum theme.

After the plaudits it earned from delegates last year, a dedicated ACI World session themed ‘Evaluating the critical correlation between passenger satisfaction and financial performance’ is back by popular demand. It will be led by Antoine Rostworowski (ACI World Director, Customer Experience and Technology), with several special guests to be named soon.

Sydney Airport General Manager, Retail, Glyn Williams will present a stand-alone view on how today’s airports view the travelling consumer. And the brand perspective will be reinforced through the expert and experienced eyes of Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, Chief Executive Officer and President of Oettinger Davidoff, who will address the theme of ‘Re-inventing the bricks & mortar of the airport retail model to move from brand to experience, while evolving airport retail to an omni-channel structure’.

These speakers are in addition to a cluster of hugely respected names already published. As reported, GVK Vice Chairman and Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) Managing Director GV Sanjay Reddy will deliver a keynote address on the opening morning.

GVK and MIAL are hosting this year’s event. Reddy is the man whose far-sighted vision made the remarkable new Terminal 2 at Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport a reality and is widely acknowledged as one of the key thinkers in Indian and global aviation. The stunningly designed T2 houses one of the most diverse and eclectic commercial offers in the airport world and an art offering that has become a major tourist attraction in its own right.

He will be followed by Dufry CEO Julián Díaz, the most influential travel retail executive of the 21st century, who heads the world’s number one travel retailer by sales value. The industry leader has an estimated 25% share of global airport duty free sales.

The industry’s biggest supplier, drinks giant Diageo Global Travel, will then take the stage, represented by Managing Director Doug Bagley. Next up is Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, which operates the world’s busiest airport for international passengers, Dubai International.

The Trinity Forum will be moderated by The Moodie Davitt Report owners Martin Moodie and Dermot Davitt.

The event will begin with an Opening Cocktail reception on Monday 12 September, followed by the conference on 13 and 14 September, with a Gala Dinner to be hosted on the night of the 13th.

Platinum Sponsors for the event include L’Oréal Travel Retail, Dufry and Travel Food Services, with Mars a Gold Sponsor and Dubai Duty Free a Silver Sponsor.

Lunch on day one will be sponsored by Perricone MD and on day two by SSP. Luxottica-owned Sunglass Hut is lending its support with sponsorship of the day one coffee break, while Lacoste is sponsoring the delegate pads and Desigual the delegate bags.
