A wonder of the aviation world – new film footage of Abu Dhabi International Midfield Terminal released

UAE. New film footage of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal construction progress reveals the project’s spectacular scale and architecture.

As reported, the Midfield Terminal is likely to open in 2019.

The film, kindly supplied to The Moodie Davitt Report by Abu Dhabi Airports, shows the epic grandeur of the building, highlighted by huge undulating curves and a vast roof span.

The airport will have capacity for 30 million passengers a year when the terminal opens its doors. In March, Abu Dhabi Executive Council Deputy Chairman Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed described the terminal as “the jewel in the crown of the infrastructure projects in the emirate” and “a paradigm shift in international standards”.

The Midfield Terminal will feature 65 aircraft gates and cover some 742,000sq m. Around 3,500sq m will be dedicated to duty free shopping. As reported, Lagardère Capital has been awarded the liquor & tobacco, confectionery and fine foods concession and Aer Rianta International the perfumes, cosmetics, skincare, sunglasses and jewellery contract.

The six-level building will also include a hotel, an extensive food & beverage offer and an art gallery.
