USA/INTERNATIONAL: Paradies Lagardère is hailing the success of its ‘Treat Our Troops’ programme which encourages passengers to make in-kind donations to help support service men and women around the world.
A total of 1.7 million donated items – almost 500,000 more than last year – will be given to US troops stationed overseas.
Treat Our Troops provides travellers, as well as airline and airport employees, the opportunity to purchase goods – from socks and snacks to phone cards and sundries – which are later distributed to military personnel through the United Service Organizations (USO), and other military service organisations.
The programme also includes free meals for troops from Memorial Day (28 May) to Independence Day (4 July), and ‘pay it forward’ opportunities in which customers donate meals for active or retired military personnel.
“Paradies Lagardère is proud to coordinate the Treat Our Troops programme that provides an important opportunity for our customers to demonstrate their gratitude for our troops and their families,” said Paradies Lagardère President and CEO Gregg Paradies.
“These brave men and women make unbelievable sacrifices each and every day and deserve the appreciation.”
