AUSTRALIA. WHSmith has opened a new store in Perth Airport’s Domestic Terminal 4. It is offering over 4,000 books and magazines, travel accessories, confectionery, fresh food to-go, drinks and an in-store café and bar.
Adding a ‘sense of place’, the retailer said that the store’s design and layout has been inspired by the landscape of Western Australia.

In addition to the usual selection of WHSmith products found in airport locations, the new store also features the Long Shot Cafè and Bar, offering specialist coffee and an extensive range of alcoholic beverages.
WHSmith Australia Managing Director, Carl Hargrave, said: “We are delighted to continue our journey with Perth Airport, introducing our latest concept travel store.
“Developing our convenience, café and tech offer has given us the opportunity to take the next step in providing our customers with the best experience in travel retail. We look forward to welcoming customers to these new stores.”

Perth Airport Chief Corporate Services Officer Debra Blaskett revealed that the new bar has been fitted out with local natural woods including jarrah and karri. She added: “Perth Airport welcomed approximately 14 million passengers in the past year and as our airport continues to grow, we are pleased to bring another world-class retail offering which will continue to enhance the customer experience at Perth Airport.”
WHSmith’s airport business has now grown to over 1,000 stores across 128 airports worldwide, which employ about 14,000 people.
