Bric’s has launched a B|Y luggage brand in collaboration with Italian industrial designer David Dolcini.
Bric’s said the new line will complement its existing luggage and accessories range, in terms of customer targeting and market positioning. With two brands, Bric’s aims to embrace a wider, younger audience.

Bric’s CEO Attilio Briccola said: “B|Y presents itself to the market as a new modern and cosmopolitan lifestyle brand, conceived for a fresh and positive approach to life and travel.”
B|Y stands for Be Young. Be Bric’s. It targets Generation Y, millennials, and “gives a nod” to Generation X consumers, who are born after 2000. Bric’s describes the brand as a “perfect travel companion for younger people in their 20s to 40s”… travellers who “have minimal and essential tastes, and care about design and functionality”.

B|Y presents two collections – Ulisse and Itaca – to offer hard trolley cases in polypropylene, soft trolleys and accessories. Bric’s said the products are characterised by “minimal linear shapes with stylistic and functional details”.
The Ulisse range highlights the Bric’s cooperation with Dolcini. His geometric design on the suitcase shell and inner lining was inspired by a subway map, and contrasts with the collection’s matt finish and leitmotif.
“The possibility of approaching the theme of travel together with a leading luggage manufacturing company like Bric’s was extremely challenging,” Dolcini commented.

The Ulisse trolleys come in three sizes: cabin, medium and large. The trolleys are expandable and also available in a standard version to comply with baggage allowance regulations. The cabin trolley includes a double USB connector (both for USB standard and the C-type) for battery packs, and an internal pocket for power banks.

The trolleys feature built-in double swivelling wheels, customised handles and an interior pocket with a removable and washable sachet for shoes and laundry. Ulisse is available in six colours: Black, Dove, Ocean Blue, Pearl Pink, Sky Blue and Mango.
Itaca is the B|Y Soft collection and offers a destructured nylon trolley in the same three sizes. Features include an urban-inspired graphic design, which is defined by tone stitching, on the front, four swivelling wheels and an expandable zipper. A non-expandable version is also available.
Both Ulisse and Itaca trolleys include TSA-approved combination locks and name tags.
The B|Y offer is completed with a weekender bag and toilet kit with a hook. The line comes in three colours to match the Ulisse collection: Black, Blue, and Mango.
David Dolcini was born in Italy, near Milan. After studying at the Politecnico di Milano and at the University of Central England in Birmingham, he entered the world of design as Luceplan Porject Manager. Dolcini worked in Shanghai for A00-Architecture and in 2007 founded David Dolcini Studio which specialises in product and industrial design, interior and exhibition design and artistic direction. The studio, which is based in Italy and Spain, cooperates with Luceplan, Porada, Bric’s, Panasonic, Riva1920, Galassia and IED. |
In related news, Bric’s has also refreshed its vintage-look Bellagio Collection. The range offers polycarbonate trolleys in four sizes, all with Japanese wheels, a light tow, new TSA lock and leather-coated handles.
The interior has a herringbone lining, with zipped and hooked compartments and a small leather pocket.

The collection is available in six colours – cream, blue, black and olive green and the new silver and gold – with tan leather trimmings to match with other Bric’s travel lines. The Trunk, which is available in large and extra-large sizes and available in cream and black with leather trimmings, is new to the collection.
The Bellagio cabin trolley has a business organiser, with PC and iPad pockets and a flat pocket for notebooks. The trolley is available in four colours: cream, olive green, blue and black.
