CHINA (HONG KONG). China Duty Free Group – whose explosive growth has propelled it into fifth place in The Moodie Davitt Report’s Top 25 Travel Retailers ranking – has inaugurated its first downtown location in Hong Kong. This follows the launch of a series of city duty free stores in Mainland China.
The latest opening in Hong Kong took place today (Tuesday) under the cdf Beauty fascia. CDFG said that the large 1,000sq m perfume and cosmetics flagship outlet is “a new one-stop duty free shopping experience for travellers from all over the world”.
The store at the Citygate Outlets mall in Tung Chung on Lantau Island (also home to The Moodie Davitt Report’s Hong Kong Bureau) – which is very close to Hong Kong International Airport (see map below) – hosts a range of leading international brands such as Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Clé de Peau, La Mer, Guerlain, Givenchy, Giorgio Armani, YSL and Tom Ford.
CDFG said that in total 45 international makeup, skincare, perfume and personal care brands are offered with “preferential prices”. The retailer claims to have set a new benchmark with cdf Beauty.
To celebrate the launch, a series of different exclusive offers and/or product packs are available from brands including Kiehl’s, Estée Lauder, Fresh Shiseido, and Shu Uemura.
Spree of mainland openings
The Hong Kong store comes on the back of a series of downtown inaugurations from May onwards on the Chinese mainland.
In both Qingdao and Xiamen – both important coastal cities with significant tourism – CDFG has opened two city duty free shops while a 513sq m Beijing flagship store has an expansive shopping offer.
