Landmark day for CNSC as its opens downtown duty free store in Dalian

CHINA. State-controlled Chinese travel retailer CNSC (China National Service Corporation for Chinese Personnel Working Abroad) this week officially inaugurated a 2,000sq m downtown duty free store in the major port city of Dalian in Liaoning Province. The opening represents the latest development in an ambitious expansion of the retailer’s network across China.

The store, formally unveiled on 16 September after an earlier soft opening, is the largest downtown duty free shop in North China. It is located on the first and second levels of Henglong Square, a popular commercial landmark in Dalian.

The retail offer is divided into four sections – a beauty makeup boutique area; a beauty makeup art gallery; a fashion lifestyle zone; and a children’s and wellbeing area.

A wide range of cosmetics, fragrances, beauty tech devices, handbags, jewellery, sunglasses, watches, consumer technology, handicrafts, children’s products and other items is offered.

“Many internationally renowned brands are represented in the store and many brands are making their debut in Dalian for their first collaboration with us,” CNSC told The Moodie Davitt Report.

As with other CNSC duty free stores in Beijing, Shanghai and elsewhere, the offer is targeted at Chinese people returning from abroad, providing them with a convenient duty free shopping experience. Returning Chinese travellers Consumer can buy duty free goods in the store and pick them up directly within 180 days of arrival upon displaying their passport and travel details.

“The Dalian duty free store is another new and upgraded shop for CNSC, opened subsequent to the Shanghai store, which represented the start of a comprehensive upgrading strategy,” CNSC said. The retailer’s ambitious 2019-2020 store network opening and refurbishment programme (see graphic) includes shops in Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Harbin, Beijing, Qingdao, Hefei, Nanchang and Chongqing. The opening of downtown duty-free store in Dalian means that the innovation joint operation mode of CNSC “port+ downtown” will be officially implemented.
