Celebrating “time-honoured mastery”: The GlenDronach reveals Cask Bottling Batch 18

The GlenDronach Distillery has released the 18th batch of its Cask Bottling collection. Eighteen casks, which date from 1990 to 2009 and offer “exceptional character”, have been selected by Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie to showcase some of the Highland distillery’s finest single malt Scotch whiskies.

A celebration of “time-honoured mastery”: The GlenDronach reveals Cask Bottling Batch 18

The distiller said each cask presents “uniquely remarkable characteristics whilst remaining distinctively The GlenDronach”.

The GlenDronach Cask Bottling Batch 18 includes two rare 30 year old casks from 1990 and a European allocated Port Pipe cask from 1992, aged 27 years.

The GlenDronach Distillery, in the valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highlands, was founded in 1826 by entrepreneur James Allardice.

It is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and is renowned for its richly sherried single malt Scotch whiskies. The distillery was acquired by the Brown-Forman Corporation in 2016.

The GlenDronach Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie said: “The GlenDronach Cask Bottling Batch 18 is a celebration of the distillery’s time-honoured mastery and a showcase of the finest of what this richly-sherried Highland single malt Scotch whisky has to offer.

“Each cask individually explores the sophistication, powerful intricacy and rich layers of Spanish sherry cask maturation found in every expression of The GlenDronach,” she added.

The GlenDronach Cask Bottling Batch 18 features many expressions of note and is available from November through specialist retailers

All eighteen casks are bottled without chill filtration for richness, at high strength and are naturally deep in colour.

The GlenDronach Cask Bottling Batch 18 prices range from £97 (US$128) to £861 (US$1,140) depending on age and cask type. The collection will be available this month (November) through specialist retailers in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. For the first time four casks will be available in the US from 2021.
