American clean beauty company Codex Beauty hosted a virtual event on 24 March to debut its new Antü collection.
The #InformedNotInfluenced event was hosted by Codex Beauty CEO Dr. Barbara Paldus and Future Earth Co-Founder and The Environmental Working Group Ambassador Stephanie Shepherd.
The Antü collection — made from and inspired by plants from the Patagonian rainforest — is Codex Beauty’s second collection of solution-oriented products.
In travel retail, the Antü collection will be launched at Sunrise Duty Free in China.
Antü was the most powerful Pillan spirit in the mythology of the Mapuche tribe in Chile. Antü represents sun, light and wisdom and is said to have created the Andes mountains.
The collection combines bioactives from Patagonian plants with ancient Mapuche tribal knowledge to offer an elevated natural skincare line.
Codex Beauty has also partnered with local Mapuche wild harvesters to source the raw materials, which are processed in a hi-tech cGMP/EcoCert manufacturing facility.
The collection protects, restores and strengthens the skin barrier; and manages reactive oxidative stress (ROS) and supports the skin microbiome.
The Antü line features Codex Beauty’s patent-pending AntüComplex, which was developed to soothe irritation and reduce inflammation from sun exposure, pollution and other external aggressors.
The AntüComplex is made from bioactives from three Patagonian plants known for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Codex Beauty has released two products for the Antü line, the Antü Brightening Night Cream and Antü Brightening Moisturiser, with four more products to be revealed in coming months. Codex Beauty will be launching the Antü Radiance Mist and Brightening Serum on 21 April, with additional products to be released in late June.
The Antü Brightening Night Cream is a rich and nourishing night cream that restores the skin barrier and protects against airborne particulate pollutants. Its formula combines the AntüComplex with Blackjack flower, daisy and cucuaçu butter. It rehydrates the skin and is clinically-proven to improve the complexion and soften skin overnight.
Clinical testing revealed that 94% of test subjects measured a +19% increase in hydration, while 81% experienced -24% decrease in trans-epidermal water loss after eight weeks of use. 71% of test subjects also experienced a +5% increase in skin tone uniformity after eight weeks.
The Antü Brightening Moisturiser is a restoring daytime moisturiser which combines the AntüComplex with Murumuru, Camapu and Entadine extracts. It is clinically-proven to alleviate light-exposure damage and refines the appearance of pores.
Clinical tests revealed that 79% of test subjects measured an increase of +11% in skin hydration, while 74% recorded a -19% decrease in trans-epidermal water loss after four weeks of use. In addition, 55% of test subjects experienced a -7% decrease in pore visibility after four weeks.
In addition, the Antü collection also features Codex Beauty’s efficacy testing panels both on the outside and inside of the product’s sustainable carton packaging. The panels explain the quantitative data and scientific research used to produce, design and test each Codex Beauty product.
Codex Beauty’s laboratories commission rigorous testing on each product to produce quantitative data on product efficacy, which is measured by a third-party clinical facility.
The Antü collection is packaged in sugarcane-based polyethylene tubes, also known as green polyethylene, which minimise the use of ocean plastics and reduce CO2. Codex Beauty aims to achieve a zero carbon footprint by 2025 by supporting the Nagoya protocol on biodiversity and exercising Fair Trade and sustainability practices throughout its entire operation.
To close the loop on sustainability, 1% of sales from the Antü collection goes towards Codex Beauty’s royalty programme, which gives back to the Mapuche tribe in Chile.
