The activities at the spectacular cdf Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex opened last October include summer-themed events to spur holiday travel and related shopping consumption.
The ‘Foldable Dreamland’ in the complex’s stunning AURA Atrium has proven a particular hit among youngsters during a period popular with family visitors to the island.
The ‘Origami Playground’, an exhibition/playground with origami elements, is on display throughout the summer at the acclaimed Haikou shopping and leisure emporium.

The show turned out to be a blockbuster success, not only in-store but also through a livestreaming audience of more than 800,000 on the first day alone.
CDFG described the success of the various events as a milestone reflecting the shopping complex’s dedication to and investment in summer tourism and family consumers.

Online gift bonanza
cdf Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex is promoting an online virtual ‘cloud trip’ to help tourists gain a better understanding of Hainan’s offshore duty free policies.
The retailer has also launched an online campaign (pictured below) themed ‘Anything could be duty free, join to win your gift out of the 100 million!’ across seven major platforms including Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, Xiaohongshu (RED), Bilibili, Dianping, and Zhihu.
The campaign offers various games, activities, and challenges, ranging from offshore duty free knowledge sharing, taking pictures at landmark scenic spots in Haikou to games such as ‘Duty Free Quiz’, ‘Duty Free Switch and Match’, and the ‘Final Completion Challenge’.
Having successfully completed the tasks, consumers can enter a lucky draw that offers duty free shopping coupons, cosmetics and perfume gift sets, and gifts worth as much as RMB1,000 (US$137). This campaign allows online users to initiate their own ‘membership benefit summer journey’ with a few clicks.
CDFG said the themed summer events have fully leveraged Haikou’s cultural and tourism resources and served as strong touch points throughout the Second Hainan Offshore Duty Free Shopping Festival.
This marks a more fruitful journey for summer tourists and a new chapter for Hainan’s duty free and culture + tourism economy, the company said, enhancing the island’s reputation as an offshore duty free hub. ✈
