ITALY. Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) today revealed the latest enhancement of its digital service with the launch of Shop&Fly in association with Lagardère Travel Retail-owned Aelia Duty Free.
The service gives passengers at Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome the opportunity to reserve the products available on ADR’s website and pay for and pick them up directly at the airport.
Through Shop&Fly, travellers using their personal digital devices and surfing the website https://shop.adr.it/en/ can now choose from a wide range of items, including a large selection of perfumes, makeup and skincare products, food and wine, and toys on sale in Lagardère Travel Retail’s Aelia Duty Free stores.
Some 9,000 items from over 600 top brands are on offer. The new opportunity is rendered even more attractive by a special -10% discount reserved for online orders compared to purchases made directly in store.

A few days before the beginning of the summer, ADR is further expanding the wide range of shopping opportunities for travellers departing from and arriving at the Rome gateway (recently named for the seventh consecutive year by ACI World as the best European hub for quality of passenger services).
Lagardère Travel Retail Italia CEO Alberto Niero said: “Today, we are really glad to announce the launch of the new Shop&Fly service, realised in partnership with ADR and its partner brands.
“This very ambitious project is aimed at responding to the changing behaviour of consumers who are more and more digitally oriented, by offering them an additional opportunity to purchase our products.”
With the Shop&Fly service, passengers departing from Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport for all destinations or arriving from an Italian or Schengen destination, can shop online, choosing duty-free products from the online catalogue. These can then be paid for and collected directly at the airport at the dedicated cash desks in the Aelia Duty Free stores.
Thanks to a partnership between ADR and ITA Airways, all ITA Airways passengers – even those coming from a non-Schengen destination – will also be able to collect the products ordered on Shop&Fly at the Aelia Duty Free pick-up points.
ADR underlined the advance of its ‘phygital’ offering at Fiumicino (which it described as Italy’s first and only airport with a Skytrax rating of five stars for excellence in services) noting that its website features an e-shopping platform that also includes the following features:
- Personal Shopper: This allows passengers to reserve luxury products in advance and pay at the boutique
- Book a Table: Travellers can reserve a table in the airport’s restaurants
- Take away and Fly: Purchase the meal online and collect it at the airport
“We constantly strive to fully meet our customers’ needs, acknowledging their crucial role in our growth and the increasingly digital approach towards consumption,” said ADR Chief Commercial Officer Marilena Blasi.
“It is essential to ensure a seamless digital experience, especially during the pre-flight phase, during which passengers interact with services such as shopping and dining.
“It is with this mindset that we launched our Shop&Fly ecommerce platform, which allows passengers to reserve duty-free products online and pay for them in store. This is the first step into a journey of continuous improvement in terms of offer, brands and services, always aligned with our customers’ needs.” ✈
