French fragrance house Diptyque has partnered with Café Verlet — one of the oldest coffee purveyors in Paris and the city’s first roastery — to introduce a limited-edition scented candle collection. It launched in selected Diptyque stores in global travel retail on 2 April.
The collection reimagines Diptyque’s Classic candles as the sweet delights served in Café Verlet. Founded in 1880 by the Verlet family, Café Verlet has honed generations of roasters and is renowned for its menu of 30 exceptional pure-origin coffees.
Café Verlet and Diptyque share the same values for authenticity, excellence and travel and have blended their coffee and olfactory know-how to bring the Parisian café to life with the latest collection.
The range comprises the Café (Coffee), Chantilly (Whipped Cream), Biscuit (Biscuit) and Fruits Confit (Candied Fruits). Each scent is inspired by the menu of Café Verlet.

The Café candle offers notes of roasted coffee beans with toasted cereals, while Chantilly is smooth and airy with a dash of vanilla. Biscuit blends the sweet notes of Café Verlet’s signature gâteaux de voyage with patchouli, while Fruits Confit, which is available only in selected department stores in North America, blends plum with sandalwood, patchouli and balsam notes.
The limited-edition collection features drawings by British illustrator Clym Evernden on the labels and boxes.
The drawings tell a whimsical Parisian tale in which the façades of Café Verlet mirror those of the original Diptyque store at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain. The illustrations make subtle references to the notes featured in each of the gourmet candles. ✈
