LVMH-owned beauty and fragrance house Guerlain has partnered with Ever Rich Duty Free to celebrate World Bee Day.
To mark this year’s occasion, Guerlain has also brought its Bee School into Ever Rich’s Taipei downtown duty-free shop for the first time. As reported, the fragrance house teamed up with the travel retailer last year to launch the programme in Taiwan.
Created initially with UNESCO and other organisations in France in 2018, the programme educates children about environmental protection with a focus on the critical role of bees in the ecosystem.
Ever Rich Duty Free invited 20 of its VIP members and their children to the exclusive event to engage in beekeeping experiences.
The programme highlighted the importance of bees and how to protect them.
One-third of the Earth’s food supply is sourced from flowering plants, and about 80% of them rely on bees for pollination.
However, due to intensive farming, vanishing habitats and climate change in recent years, the annual bee mortality rate now stands at 30%. The disappearance of bees has become a worldwide phenomenon which poses a fundamental risk to biodiversity.
The Bee Garden Experience
In addition to environmental education, Guerlain and Ever Rich Duty Free hosted the week-long Bee Garden Experience from 29 April to 5 May. The event celebrated the innovation and craftsmanship behind Guerlain’s bee-inspired Aqua Allegoria fragrance collection.
Aqua Allegoria’s emblematic bottle is made from post-consumer recycled glass and contains a high amount of natural ingredients to significantly minimise carbon emissions.
The experience featured a guided tour of a vibrant indoor garden sanctuary showcasing a two-metre-high Guerlain perfume bottle replica and mirror reflections creating a blooming flower field.
The site created plenty of photo opportunities for visitors.
The complete exhibition of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria series immersed guests into an olfactory experience. Visitors were also invited to Ever Rich Duty Free’s Garden Café to enjoy exclusive floral drinks.
The Bee School and Bee Garden Experience align with Ever Rich Duty Free’s long-standing commitment to social welfare and environmental protection, the company noted.
Over the past years, the travel retailer has reduced carbon emissions by 12 million kilograms, engaged in carbon auditing and continues to roll out its Everich 1% ESG project. This campaign promotes environmental sustainability across businesses, employees, consumers and partners, with a dedicated investment of 1% in time, management and impact.
The 1% ESG project earned Ever Rich Duty Free the Buying Power Gold Award from the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2023, recognising its commitment to sustainability. ✈
