Heathrow Airport issues tender for multiple blended essentials units across Terminal 2

UK. Heathrow Airport has issued an open tender for three blended essentials units in Terminal 2, the Queen’s Terminal.

The three spaces are in prominent airside and landside locations.

The airport company described blended essentials as a vital part of the Heathrow customer proposition, combining the confectionery and news offer with health, beauty and pharmacy.

‘Essentials’ encompasses items that passengers consider necessary for their time in the airport or for their onward journey.

Interested parties are asked to align their proposals with Heathrow Retail’s DESO strategy – i.e. considering digital, experience, space and offer in their proposition.

Principally, all proposals must prove they can serve high passenger volume, drive operational excellence and deliver the best essentials offer and service to travellers.

The tender presents an exciting opportunity to trade at what the company called “the most connected airport in the word” with a record-breaking 82.4 million passengers expected to travel through Heathrow this year.

All proposals are to be submitted by 30 August. The preferred bidder will be announced in October and start trading from 2025.

Heathrow Head of Category – Retail  Stephanie Pears said: “From adaptors to apples, shampoo to suncream, travel essentials sit at the very heart of our customer proposition.

“To deliver on our vision of being an extraordinary airport fit for the future we must get the fundamentals right, setting passengers up for success by catering for their essential wants and needs.

“This exciting opportunity comes as the Queen’s Terminal celebrates its ten-year anniversary, with over 148 million passengers passing through the doors in the last decade.” ✈

Note: Any tender questions should be submitted via email to stephanie.pears@heathrow.com by close of business on 12 July.
