CHINA. Global Premium Duty Free (GDF) Plaza is hosting several ‘Shopping in Summer’ events at the 2024 Hainan Island Carnival taking place across the province from 16-22 June.
Activities include exclusive shopper benefits, discounted purchases, wine tastings, shopping coupons and child-friendly games. The promotions are designed to attract both tourists and locals to participate in the carnival while reaping offshore duty-free benefits.
GDF Plaza has set up an exhibition space with coastal characteristics at Haikou’s famed Wormhole Library, displaying international brands and offering wine tastings. Visitors who follow the group’s official WeChat account are in with a chance to receive exclusive gifts.
To boost in-store sales, GDF Plaza is sharing discount coupons that can be used at the group Haikou’s Mova Mall store.
At a poetry and wine garden party hosted by the retailer, visitors could access additional offshore duty-free benefits through WeChat. The activities are an attempt to boost the flow of people between the group’s outdoor exhibition spaces and permanent indoor stores.
