USA. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) has celebrated the grand opening of dining and retail concepts in Chicago O’Hare International Airport Terminal 5.
Publican Quality Bread, Six Points Market, Metropolis Coffee Company, InMotion and BLVD & Branch all bring a variety of food & beverage and retail options to the airport.
CDA Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee said: “It’s an incredibly dynamic time at Terminal 5, and I was thrilled to join our concessions partners to welcome these new brands on behalf of Mayor Brandon Johnson today.
“As one of the world’s busiest aviation systems, we must always work to maximise the travelling experience for passengers at both O’Hare and Midway International airports. We are excited to have Publican Quality Bread, Six Points Market, Metropolis Coffee Company, InMotion and BLVD & Branch join the great and growing roster of concessions in Terminal 5.”
Publican Quality Bread, operated by HMSHost and part of the Chicago-based One Off Hospitality Group, specialises in whole-grain, long-fermented baked goods. The bakery – whose sister establishment is the Fulton Market charcuterie Publican Quality Meats – operates locations in the West Town community and suburban Oak Park.
The bakery’s goods are served at more than 70 Chicago establishments and at 12 Chicagoland locations, and through their partners. The concession partners also operate Publican Tavern in Terminal 3.
One Off Hospitality Partner Donnie Madia said: “We all at One Off Hospitality Group and Publican Quality Bread are enamoured and grateful for another opportunity to partner with HMSHost at the newly delivered Terminal 5.
“We love our airport partnership with the City of Chicago and HMSHost. We are hopeful that we are allowed to continue to spread our hospitality and delicious food with all the guests that travel through one of the busiest airports in the world. Thank you, O’Hare International Airport.”
The new T5 locations for Six Points Market, Metropolis Coffee, InMotion and BLVD & Branch were developed through operating partnerships with speciality retailer WHSmith North America.
Chicago-themed Six Points Market takes its name from the six points on each of the four stars featured on the city’s official flag. It offers snacks, souvenirs, books and various travel accessories.
Metropolis Coffee Company operates four Chicago locations, including its 1,672sq m headquarters along the North Branch of the Chicago River, as well as its new O’Hare Airport location inside Six Points Market. The company was previously named ‘Roaster of the Year’ by Roast Magazine.
Metropolis Partners Farhana Rahim and Sulaiman Fahim said: “We are thrilled to bring such a fan-favourite local Chicago brand to O’Hare International Airport.
“This has been an amazing journey as two Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise companies and father-daughter duo to come together and partner with WHSmith and the CDA on this unique opportunity. We are excited to serve great coffee to everyone who passes through Terminal 5.”
The world’s largest airport retailer of consumer technology, InMotion has a presence across 46 North American airports and more than 50 locations worldwide. Along with its T5 location, InMotion operates five stores inside Chicago O’Hare International Airport, including one Headphone Hub brand store.
BLVD & Branch features locally themed accessories from brands such as Frango Mint Chocolates and ChiBoys, with the latter having recently opened a store in T3. The venue also carries items from brands strongly represented by diverse business enterprises.
WHSmith North America CEO Toby Keir said: “This collection of stores has created an authentic shopping journey for travellers, offering a chance to take a piece of the Windy City with them.”
The new concessions join recent additions at T5, including Bar Siena and The Hampton Social, with new locations for Chick-fil-A and Protein Bar & Kitchen set to open later this summer. Currently, O’Hare International Airport has 230 concessions locations, including 38 inside T5. ✈
