Japan Airport Terminal Co and CDFG partner in Tokyo Chow Tai Fook opening

Three renowned names join forces to offer Japan Duty Free Ginza customers one of Asia’s and China’s most-renowned jewellery brands

JAPAN. Japan Airport Terminal Co (JAT) and China Duty Free Group (CDFG) have teamed up for the first time to open a counter for China’s renowned jewellery brand Chow Tai Fook at Japan Duty Free Ginza.

JAT’s airport-style duty-free shop is located downtown in Ginza Mitsukoshi, Tokyo.

“Both CDFG and JAT, with the common goal of enhancing the quality of life for consumers in China and Japan by expanding the range of travel retail options, will leverage their strengths to create new sectors in the travel retail market in Japan,” the partners said in a statement.

Since signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2022 and as the leading travel retailers in their respective countries, CDFG and JAT have been exploring ways to collaborate.

The opening of the Chow Tai Fook Jewellery counter in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo’s Central Business District, marks the first step of the collaboration, the companies said.

The  Chow Tai Fook counter is located on the 8th floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi in Japan Duty Free Ginza

A wide range of retro gold jewellery is on offer, including the HUÁ Collection and CTF Rouge Collection, as well as Japan-exclusive products that redefine Chinese aesthetics by combining traditional Chinese culture and fine craftsmanship into the design of modern jewellery.

Travellers and residents of Japan can place their orders at the duty-free counter in the heart of Tokyo for pre-departure pickup at Haneda and Narita Airports.

JAT is the predominant retailer at Tokyo Haneda Airport and also manages duty-free shops at several other airports in Japan as well as downtown locations.

JAT, the pioneer of Japanese duty-free retail, will operate the counter while CDFG will promote the new venture to its 37 million premium members and supply Chow Tai Fook Jewellery products.

This will boost the market share and importance of downtown duty-free in the Japanese travel retail market, the companies said.

“In the future, CDFG and JAT will continue to expand the scope of their cooperation in the Japanese travel retail market, leveraging the complementary strengths of the two industry pioneers to create more market value.” ✈
