Confectionery and liquor-filled chocolates specialist Anthon Berg has partnered with Gebr. Heinemann in an eye-catching activation at Copenhagen Airport.
With a ‘Creating sweeter memories’ tagline, the promotion marks Anthon Berg’s 140th anniversary, celebrating both the brand’s heritage and its promising future in travel retail.
Anthon Berg introduced the marzipan bar inflight and on ferry boats to target Danish travellers in 1956. As air travel became more popular, the brand launched its popular tube of chocolate bottles, designed to fit inflight sales trolleys. Anthon Berg now has a presence in 55 markets, 300 airports, border and ferry shops worldwide and is known for its quality marzipan and liquor-filled chocolate specialities. |
Anthon Berg International Marketing Manager Jens Egelund Jakobsen said: “This prolonged activation in partnership with Heinemann celebrates both the past but more importantly our belief to invest in the future.
“Anthon Berg has seen sustained growth in the past years, and this is down to the unique portfolio of memorable chocolate products like our ‘Grand Cordials’ liquor-filled chocolate bottles, strong license partner brands like Baileys and of course our Nordic marzipan creations.”
Described as the “biggest revenue driver in the company”, the Anthon Berg chocolate bottle has featured spirits such as Brøndum Akvavit and Cherry Heering Brandy, with key brand partnerships including Cointreau, The Famous Grouse, Rémy Martin and, most recently, Baileys.
According to Anthon Berg, the bottle’s production requires both chocolate-making skills and technical expertise. The bottles are crafted without a sugar shell between the chocolate and the liquor with production methods and machinery developed and refined by Toms Group’s own mechanical engineers.
The Anthon Berg bottle boasts a broad portfolio that ranges from 15 Year Old single malt whiskies to Piña Colada cocktails. “This has given Toms Group a unique position as one of the world’s leading suppliers of liquor-filled chocolate,” Jakobsen added. “The spirits used are delivered directly from our licensing partners, ensuring that it’s the real deal inside each chocolate bottle.”
“As the brand looks to the future, this 140th-anniversary celebration is not only a nod to its remarkable past but also a commitment to continue delivering premium chocolate experiences to travellers worldwide,” Anthon Berg stated.
“With the support of strong partnerships like Heinemann, and an ever-expanding product range, Anthon Berg is well-positioned for continued growth in the global travel retail market.” ✈️
