Travelex and Fraport renew partnership to expand operations at Frankfurt Airport

GERMANY. Foreign exchange provider Travelex has renewed its contract with Fraport for six years, continuing their 31-year partnership.

Travelex currently operates 25 ATMs and 13 stores across Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1, covering arrivals and departures, airside and landside. It offers passengers access to over 50 currencies, plus pre-order, click & collect and tax refund services.

Travelex opened its latest store at Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1B in November, providing airside access to over 45 currencies and tax refund services for a more convenient travel experience

In addition, the foreign exchange provider manages a wholesale department that supplies cash to more than 70% of the airport’s retailers.

Expanding its presence at the airport, Travelex opened a store in the Terminal 1B Non-Schengen area in November.

Travelex first opened a store in Germany at Frankfurt Airport in 1993 and has since grown to operate 25 units and over 50 ATMs across Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. Most recently, the company secured the tender to operate at Munich Airport, extending its footprint to all six of Germany’s busiest travel hubs.

Travelex Europe Director Leonard Stolk said: “We are absolutely delighted to take the next step in our decades-long journey with Frankfurt Airport. FRA was our very first German home, back in 1993, and I’m truly proud to see how our relationship has gone from strength to strength since then – reflecting the trust between our teams and the quality of the Travelex service. We look forward to continuing our partnership over the next six years, and beyond.”

Fraport AG Head of Key Account Management Services, Media & Projects Eva Trillhaas added: “We are delighted to announce the extension of our successful partnership with Travelex. This trustful cooperation enables reliable and convenient currency exchange as well as tax refund services for our passengers. We are convinced that together we can continue to ensure first-class services at Frankfurt Airport.” ✈
