“A big step in the right direction” – Cloetta hails partnership with Lagardère in Prague

Swedish confectionery specialist Cloetta Global Travel Retail said it is ramping up plans to expand in global travel retail, with the  installation of a permanent branded space at Prague Václav Havel Airport an example of a key partnership.

As reported, Cloetta teamed up with Lagardère Travel Retail to open the 12sq m area in Terminal 1 at the end of November, marking its first collaboration with the airport retailer.

The multi-branded space features a range of confectionery brands, with a big focus on The Jelly Bean Factory. A brand refresh includes subtle design changes, an increased use of paper and carton in packaging and the introduction of new flavours Cherry Blossom Soda, Peach Bubble Tea, Forest Fruits and Salted Caramel.

The space also highlights recently-launched Red Band Swedish Fish and Sour Suckers Travel Bags and Cloetta’s first travel retail-exclusive product in the chocolate category, the Kex Travel Bag.

Head of Cloetta Global Travel Retail Berend-Jan van Egmond said reactions to the Prague Airport space have been “overwhelmingly positive”.

“The display stands out due to its bright colours and size and the Prague-themed photobooth is a fun way for travellers to end or start their trip, and to step into the world of The Jelly Bean Factory.”

Van Egmond said Cloetta aimed to extend the network of the branded spaces throughout Europe and to “progress our ambition to further develop a global travel retail presence”.

“As vaccination and booster programmes have picked up speed, Cloetta Global Travel Retail is optimistic about the industry being on its way to recover from the pandemic,” he added.

“We will continue to build on existing partnerships and explore possibilities for new collaborations, in order to further build our ambition. The display marks our first collaboration with Lagardère Travel Retail, so we took a big step in the right direction.”
